Upgrading the world’s most modern slaughterhouse
New MES with scalability and full flexibility
Upgrading production systems in the largest pig slaughterhouse in Europe
Intelligent Systems develop the new Manufacturing Execution System (MES) for the largest slaughterhouse for pigs in Europe, owned by Danish Crown. The new system ensures full control from start to finish in the production line by combining planning, traceability, and automation.
Danish Crown’s pig slaughterhouse in Horsens, Denmark, is the largest of its kind in Europe and the third largest in the world. It receives approx. 100,000 pigs on a weekly basis. Whenever a truck arrives with pigs for slaughter, it is registered in Danish Crown’s SAP ERP system in which order processing, sales, purchasing, inventory management, and financial systems are joined.
Once the pigs are unloaded, they are individually registered in the MES system, which tracks and documents all processes all the way to the finished product. In the MES system, all cuts can be traced back to the individual pig.
Full traceability across
the production line
The new MES system is part of a general production update and part of an effort to future-proof the technological platform.
The system is linked to the ERP system and the economy system within Danish Crown, allowing the slaughterhouse to constantly optimize production for the most valuable cuts with full traceability and transparency across the entire production line.
