Intelligent Systems-driven concept recommended as future hospital logistics in Denmark

Intelligent Systems has over the last year and a half worked with a range of partners – including Qubiqa, Schoeller Plast and NNE Pharmaplan, to develop a new revolutionary concept for automation of logistics in the future hospitals. Intelligent hospital logistics concept (in short IHL) is nowrecommended by the Danish Regions in “Report on transport technologies”, which is one of 10 indicators set out for the next hospital constructions.

The new concept is recommended in the report from the Danish Regions with the following words: “The project group continues to support the project and see it as one of the most promising developments within area hospital logistics for many years.”
“I am very pleased that our concept is recommended,” says CEO of Intelligent Systems Niki Nicolas Grigoriou. “It’s a concept we’ve been working on for about one and a half years. We have worked closely with our partners and a number of people who work at the hospitals in Denmark. It’s great to get this recognition now. “
The indicator on transport technologies concludes that Intelligent hospital logistics (IHL) is a very promising example of new thinking and innovation in hospital logistics. It is the combination of transport technologies in the concept and targeting it to hospitals that makes it unique.

Intelligent hospital logistics

The Intelligent hospital logistics concept combines existing technologies to create a new integrated transport and storage system; a fully automated infrastructure built into the hospital’s walls and ceilings. The system makes product supply and access to stored instruments and equipment as easy as sending or receiving through a pneumatic tube or to tap water from the faucet. As one nurse puts it: “In the future, the goods come out of the wall when you need them!”
The solution will address about 80% of the internal logistics tasks in the future hospitals. The concept is planned, developed and tested in the extensive project involving five Danish hospitals, which will ensure that it is simple, reliable, intelligent and efficient.

Ten indicators for future hospital construction

In the coming years the regions in Denmark will invest heavily in the construction of new hospitals and the renovation and expansion of existing ones. The investment allows for innovation both in the decor and design of the hospitals.
The construction of new hospitals requires that hospitals will be 8% more efficient than today and they must be continuously optimized by 2% a year. This means that new technologies must be included and the hospitals must be more intelligent in order to optimize work flows. That is why it is important for the regions to find the right solutions to invest in. This has resulted in the systematic collection and sharing of knowledge between regions. The interdisciplinary cooperation has resulted in ten common indicators for knowledge sharing within hospital construction.
