The contract with BEUMER group includes the installation of a CRISBAG® – baggage transportation and sortation system. The new baggage handling system will be installed in a new building and with integration to a full TSA compliant EDS screening system as well as integrated CrisStore ® . The bag storage stores all luggage until it is cleared to load onto the aircraft.
Intelligent Systems will
also deliver a video coding system, which allows bag source information to be
encoded while the bag remains in motion.
The new baggage handling system will make a more efficient pre-clearance operation for passengers travelling to United States of America and a more improved baggage screening process. The Caribbean airport will also get a more efficient use of the airport check-in hall as the new system will allow for U.S. and non-U.S. bound flights to operate from the same check-in facility.
The airport
is one of the busiest airports in the Caribbean with 29 different airlines that
handles more than 2,5 million passengers a year.
