Smart Production in Practice – when systems weren’t built for it
Very few production environments are built entirely from scratch. Most manufacturers work with a combination of existing machinery, legacy systems and new technologies that need to function together.
At this event, Odense Robotics, Aalborg University, Intelligent Systems and BILA will explore how manufacturers and system integrators can modernise production in a pragmatic way – creating value without the need for extensive rebuilding or replacement of existing equipment.
A key theme will be the interaction between operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT), including how mobile robots can act as flexible links between existing systems and enable new possibilities on the production floor.
Participants will gain insights into:
- Practical IT/OT integration
- Digitalisation of legacy equipment
- Where AI can create real value in integration projects
The event will provide practical inspiration for companies looking to expand the potential of automation and apply new technologies in production environments that were not originally designed for them.
Join us at AAU INNOVATE in Aalborg on 29 September and explore how existing production systems can become the foundation for new automation opportunities.

The event will be held in Danish.
