High-level control system and advanced statistic modules

Intelligent Systems is a subcontractor to BEUMER Group – one of the world´s leading suppliers of automated sortation systems. Intelligent Systems has had the pleasure of developing a high-level control system and advanced statistic modules to BEUMER Group for one of France´s leading supermarket chains. With more than 2000 stores, the supermarket chain has built its business on delivering a high level of customer service. This sets high demands for an efficient and strong supply chain.

Fast delivery of products
with short shelf life

The distribution hub receives supplies, after which they are handled, sorted, packaged, and shipped to the stores. A large part of the chain assortment is refrigerated goods with short durability, such as milk, cheese, and eggs.

Therefore, it is important that goods travel from the supplier to the stores as fast as possible. The sortation system – for which Intelligent Systems has delivered software – handles goods to be delivered at the stores the same day as they are sorted at the distribution hub.

Since goods are delivered daily, stores can reduce stock requirements. Automated control of every product during sortation ensures that expiry dates and weight correspond with the customer´s demands for the retailer.

This data is also used to check the settlement of individual suppliers. The sortation system also ensures traceability from supplier to store. All goods are monitored from receival to shipment. Monitoring also includes functions that enable the system to discard products which do not meet the high-quality standards.

Sorting can be done according to many parameters such as item number, suppliers, LOT, and production date. This ensures that distribution hubs only ship high-quality goods to the stores. The flexibility and efficiency of the system means that the French supermarket chain can stay focused on the high level of customer service which they are well known for.
